roller derby in New Zealand

Roller derby was first played in New Zealand in 2006 by the Pirate City Rollers, based in Auckland. Since then, more than 25 leagues have formed throughout the country.

Established in 2016 with the goal of representing New Zealand at the 2018 Roller Derby World Cup in Manchester, England.

Auckland Roller Derby League (ARDL)
Flat track roller derby league based in Auckland, New Zealand. Affiliated with the Women's Flat Track Derby Association. The league offers rookie training programs several times a year, and its teams competes against other roller derby league teams.

Bay City Rollers of Hawkes Bay

Hawkes bay roller derby league established in 2009. Teams in the league include the Iron Maidens travel team, the Twisted Sisters development team, and the Guns and Roses junior (under 18) team. The teams in the league have members from Napier, Hastings, and Central District.

Dead End Derby
Women's flat track derby league based in Christchurch, New Zealand that was established in 2007 and played its first bout in 2009. The league has been affiliated with the Women's Flat Track Derby Association since 2016, first as part of their apprentice program and later as a full member.

Hellmilton Roller Ghouls
Roller derby league based in Hamilton Metro area of North Island in New Zealand. Its teams include the Raggedy Angst travel team, the Hell's belles "B" Team, the Junior Monstar Squad for ages 14-17, and two home teams - Ultra Violent and Gang Green - play against each other throughout the year.

Roller derby league based in Tauranga, New Zealand. Established in June of 2010 as the "Mountain Militia Derby Crew". The league renamed itself "Moana Roller Derby" in 2018.

Independent roller derby league founded in 2009 by Sarah Kate Thompson, Andrea Bryan, Kylie Williams-Woods, and Kathryn Griffin. Based at the East End Rink i (now Inline Skating Arena?) in n New Plymouth, New Zealand. based in Taranaki, New Zealand. Northland Nightmares Roller Derby
Flat track roller derby league established in 2010 that is based in Whangarei, New Zealand. Formerly known as the Northland Nightmares Roller Girls. The league's teams include "Hells Wives", "Death Row Dolls", "Diva Destruction", and a junior "Derby Bratz" team. Pirate City Rollers
Women's flat track roller derby league established in 2006 by United States skater known as "Black Dahlia" during a trip to New Zealand. The league has been saffiliated with the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association since 2011, first as an apprentice member and later as a full memer. The leagues teams include the "All Scars" competitive team and the "Broadside Brawlers" development team.

Swamp City Roller Derby
Women's flat track roller derby league based in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Formerly known as the "Swamp City Roller Rats". The league was formed in 2010 by Trudy Hannon and Kyla Sinclair.
